The restored roadside restaurant, once a mainstay along the old Lincoln Highway (U.S. 30, stretching across the United States, is now (in 2016) open on a limited basis, staffed entirely by volunteer old-road enthusiasts. The 1931-vintage cafe, Skelly gas station, and office for adjacent tourist cabins, closed in 1970, became a residence, was abandoned for some time, and was revived as a restoration project to celebrate Iowa's 150th anniversary of statehood in 1996. | Credit line: Photographs in the Carol M.
