In 1962, the International Inn hotel chain opened the Washington Plaza Hotel. Designed by architect Morris Lapidus, known for the Fountainebleu and Eden Roc in Miami Beach, insisted on a resort-like property that focused on the needs of the guests, not the owners. The resulting nine-story edifice was the talk of the town with its curving corridors, strong graphic elements, and sensational swimming pool. | Credit line: The George F.
