This sculpture was created by David Chester French, who also produced the massive statue of Abraham Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Depicting the wife of a former Civil War general who became chief engineer of the Council Bluffs-based Union Pacific Railroad, the statue became the focus of a dark legend and superstition having to do with Mrs. Dodge's correct premonition that her death was at hand. | Credit line: Photographs in the Carol M.
