The building, constructed in 1921, currently (2016) serves as the Ice House Museum. The first ice harvest on the adjacent Cedar River began on January 10, 1922. The building served as an ice house until 1934. It was then used as a livestock barn and later was flooded for ice skating. It was the home of the Cedar Falls Boat Club until 1976 when the building was condemned. After a successful fundraising campaign the building was saved and renovated.
