SCAD is not a family name or slang term. It's an acronym for the Savannah College of Art and Design. Trustees Theater opened in 1946 as a part of Savannah's grand theater district. Designed by Howell and Tucker as the Weis Theater (pronounced Wise after the family the built it) it was purchased and renovated by the Savannah College of Art and Design The theater operates year-round as a venue for lectures, live performances, concerts and films. | Credit line: Photographs in Carol M.
