The town in mountainous Fremont County is quirky by nature. It was founded as "Never Sweat," owing to its surprisingly dry though warm climate. But in the 1920s, the U.S. Postal Service rejected such an unseemly name, and the town was renamed "Dubois," after a U.S. senator of French-Canadian origin who served in the area when it was part of Idaho Territory.
