Standing atop the Board of Trade Building across the street since 1872, it was a local landmark. But in 1950 when the building's top two floors were removed during a renovation, the tower and its components were lost. But n 1984 architect Duncan McGowan began searching out components and putting them back together. The tower bell was found in a flea market in Michigan. And after a successful fundraising effort led by Dr. Horace Blood, the tower was reconstituted and put back in service,at street level. | Credit line: Photographs in Carol M.
