Boston. Engraved by G.W. Boynton. | An Illustrated Atlas, Geographical, Statistical, And Historical, Of The United States And The Adjacent Countries. By T.G. Bradford. Boston: Weeks, Jordan, And Company. New York: Wiley And Putnam. (on verso) Entered ... 1838, by Thomas G. Bradford ... Massachusetts. Cambridge: Stereotyped And Printed By Folsom, Wells, And Thurston, Printers To The University. | 1st edition. This is Bradford's best atlas, far superior to the smaller and more crudely drawn Comprehensive Atlas (see our copies). Each map is accompanied by text description. The maps are engraved by G.W. Boynton, except for Mississippi, which is engraved by S. Stiles, Sherman and Smith. Fielding Lucas drew, but did not engrave, the Delaware map. There was also an edition published in Philadelphia, with the same maps. In some copies the Iowa and Wisconsin map is labeled only "Wisconsin." See also our 1842 and 1846 editions, as well as the 1841 General Atlas of the World by S.G. Goodrich, with uses these Bradford maps, without the text. There is a beautifully illustrated, engraved second title page reading "An Illustrated Atlas, Geographical, Statistical and Historical of the United States And The Adjacent Countries, By T.G. Bradford. Engd. by Jas. Archer." Full hand painted color. Atlas is bound in half leather brown untitled cloth covers; spine is stamped in gold with "Bradford's Illustrated Atlas".

We print high quality reproductions of historical maps, photographs, prints, etc. Because of their historical nature, some of these images may show signs of wear and tear - small rips, stains, creases, etc. We believe that in many cases this contributes to the historical character of the item.
