This is a rare map of Portland issued c.1885. It covers downtown Portland and Casco Bay. Towns of Deering and Cape Elizabeth are noted along with various islands in Casco Bay. Portland's development at this time was confined to the isthmus between modern day Western Prom and Eastern Promenade. The map thus significantly predates the extensive development of Portland's east end. Color coding identifies wards.
This map is quite rare. There is some indication that it may have been issued around 1885. The cartographer is unknown and no other copy of this map is available on the market.
